I've had luck with the store-bought enzyme formulas. but I've found I have to:
A. use a *lot* of it on carpet -- as much as the original volume of pee at least. On carpet you want the spot to be saturated down through the under-layer.
B. let it work for several days. This is another reason 'more is better' - you want it to stay moist and working. If it's an area that wants to dry out, put a towel or aluminum foil over it. Then when you want it to dry, put a fan down to blow on it.

When it works on a really strong area, there can be an odor of the pee that may attract the cat for more marking ... another reason for big aluminum foil use. If you can shut the cats away, even better.

Sorry for the unsolicited advice posting, but if you spend the money on the enzyme cleaner, you really will want it to work. I think it's why people often don't use enough of it to get the job done, because they think, 'migod, this costs 65 cents AN OUNCE! or whatever...

Good luck! It sounds like your home improvement projects are adding up to somewhere great.
